Major Gifts and Endowments

For alumni or community members who wish to provide a special gift to BDLC, we provide a number of opportunities to contribute a major gift. Major gifts are used to provide funding for specific projects such as:

• Endowment for low income scholarships
• Named gifts, such as playground equipment, trees, learning centers and large equipment
• Your ideas for special programs or initiatives

Parent Fundraising

One very important way parents can be involved at BDLC is by participating in the Center's ongoing passive fundraising efforts. As a not-for-profit organization, BDLC relies on fundraising to provide the extra funds for building improvements, playground upgrades, and most importantly, our staff bonus fund used to reward teachers and administrative staff. We have numerous events and passive fundraisers throughout the year:

•Grocery Retail Certificates : This is an easy way to provide an important benefit BDLC. BDLC offers parents the opportunity to regularly purchase gift certificates for use at Kroger and Marsh. Parents just simply add the amount they wish to purchase to their check for fees and then pick up the certificates a few days later at the BDLC office. The certificates can be used just like cash, so they are very convenient.

Why is this important? BDLC gets 1%-5% of the total amount of all certificates sold. For example, if you purchased $200 in certificates 12 times a year, we would receive $120 per year from just one family. If 100 families did this, we would receive $12,000 a year!

•Staff Bonus Fund : Twice a year (April and November), BDLC holds a Staff Bonus Fund Drive to raise money to reward staff for their dedication and commitment.

•Photographs: Each fall, BDLC children have their pictures taken by an expert photographer, right in Center Court. BDLC receives a percentage of the total photo sales, plus a class photo for each room.

•United Way: You may designate BDLC as the recipient of your donation to United Way.
