Our History
Bloomington Developmental Learning Center, Inc. (BDLC) is a licensed early childhood learning center and preschool that was founded in 1973 by parents and teachers who were bound by similar childcare philosophies. BDLC is one of the largest and oldest child-care centers in Monroe County serving nearly 100 students from age 6 weeks through 5 years, and is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of parents, teachers, and community members.
Our Philosophy
BDLC uses a play-based curriculum focused on developing students in various academic disciplines from literacy and the arts to science, technology, and math. We also focus on children’s social-emotional development and use the Conscious Discipline model for classroom management to empower students with safe spaces for self-regulation.
Staff
Our staff has a wide array of education experience ranging from CDAs to advanced degrees in fields of study including elementary education and childhood development. Everyone in our center shares a passion for working with children and empowering them to learn and grow every day from new experiences through a play-based curriculum.
Safety
Our staff is certified in First Aid, Infant CPR, and Safe Sleep. BDLC follows the Conscious Discipline model to help children develop problem-solving skills and build confidence in body autonomy. Our facility is secured at all times and each family has the ability to access the building during business hours.
