About the Classroom:

The Lamb room is a safe and loving place for your baby. The Lamb room teachers learn the individual needs and routines for each infant to provide them with high quality love and attention. Feeding plans, as well as nap time, are designed to mirror what the infants receive at home. We provide an environment where the teachers react and tend to the needs of the children in a calm, respectful, caring way.

"We provide an environment where the teachers react and tend to the needs of the babies in a clam, respectful, and caring way."

Cribs are designed for maximum safety. Both ends of the cribs are made of plexiglass, so teachers can see into the cribs with ease from all areas of the classroom. All staff in the building are trained annually on Safe Sleep practices, and those guidelines are strictly followed at BDLC.

In our classroom, you will see cribs, the bottle preparation station, and a changing table all on the tiled portion of the room. On the carpeted area, you will find cozy rocking chairs, shelves full of developmentally appropriate toys, materials, and books, and some gross motor equipment such as play gyms and a pull-up bar.

While in toddler and preschool classrooms you will find a common schedule that all children follow, in the Lamb room, every child has his or her own individual schedule. All infants eat, sleep, and receive diaper changes on demand. The teachers continuously observe and tune into each infant’s cues regarding what they need, and when they need it. We respect each infant fully as the person they are, and you can feel at ease knowing that your baby is safe, well-loved, and happy.

Breastmilk and Formula

BDLC offers formula or families can provide a formula of their choice. Breastfeeding is fully supported at BDLC and mothers are welcome into the classroom to nurse anytime. The Lambs room is prepared to take fresh, refrigerated or frozen breastmilk. Families must bring their own bottles due to COVID-19 restrictions.

A Lamb's Day:

Drop-off

  • Parents drop off their Lambs at the room and are able to come in and get the babies settled. Shoes are left at the door.

Feedings

  • Younger Lambs get bottles  at a frequency directed by the parent or based on the baby's cues.

  • Breastmilk and formula can be brought from home, or babies can receive formula offered from BDLC.

  • Breastfeeding in the room is permitted at any point during the day.

  • Older Lambs (6 months+) may be offered food during lunch and for snacks when it's appropriate for the individual child.

Indoor Play

  • Indoor play in the lambs room ranges from tummy time to standing practice as the infants grow.

  • Toys and learning materials are adapted in the room to meet the ages of the Lambs as they grow and change.

Outdoor Play

  • The Lambs have a wonderful outdoor deck that has full shade from mature trees.

  • Lambs love sitting and playing on the deck while watching the older children in an adjacent playground.

Nap Time

  • Naps are offered throughout the day based on the individual baby's rhythms and schedules.

  • A sound machine may be turned on to assist in naps when other Lambs are awake and active.
